What ONIC is, officially
When ONIC launched, PTA published a clarification. Pak Telecom Mobile Limited, which already owns the Ufone brand, was launching a second, digital-segment product. So ONIC is not a seventh licence; it is PTML wearing an app. ONIC’s own support pages state coverage is nationwide wherever Ufone’s network reaches.
That parentage answers the trust question. Your contract sits with a PTA-licensed operator inside the same national registry, not with some app-store experiment.
How an app-only SIM still gets registered to you
Ordering through the Onic app ends the same way every Pakistani SIM must. A biometric match against NADRA happens at delivery or activation. App-only changes the shopfront, never the law. The SIM binds to your CNIC and counts toward the cap of eight, five voice plus three data. It carries the same record fields as any other card.

The checks that work on ONIC
- Your number and account: the Onic app, which is the operator’s entire front door, with human support in-app.
- SIMs on your CNIC: SMS your 13-digit CNIC to 668 (about Rs 2) or use cnic.sims.pk free; ONIC registrations appear in the PTML/registry count. The 668 guide covers the route.

Lose an ONIC SIM and the app on another device, or in-app support, is your blocking route. Being PTML, escalation ultimately reaches the same customer infrastructure as Ufone’s. Block first, questions later, because an eSIM-era number in the wrong hands is still your identity speaking.
